Divine Comedy

My hopes and dreams of having a successful first date were shattered today when my date could not convince her friends to leave Lagoon in time to make it home for a lousy Humor U show at seven o'clock that I was trying to take her to. This put me in quite an awkward position. I don't know this girl all too well (that's what the first date was for), and so I figured the best thing to do would be to just reschedule (awkward) and tell her that she shouldn't worry about trying to fight her friends to come home early. What a mess.

An awkward situation was made worse as I spent the whole day trying my hardest to get a hold of her as she was, in a word, incommunicado.

And so I spent the evening instead with my family at Divine Comedy, which made me cry with laughter. This was much needed. I have my brother Tim to thank for the quick invitation.

DC was followed closely by a Betos run, which, as people from Springville know too well, was established to provide sub-par Mexican fast-food for people like my brother. To me, it was, and continues this evening to be, stomach-lurching. To Tim, it was like chocolate to a pregnant woman.

Only God knows the things Tim would crave if he actually were a pregnant woman.

A night like this provides me with much time to think about things in a very interesting light. I wish I had been able to pull off a first date with a girl at some point in the semester. I hope I go to every Divine Comedy show BYU provides me with. I want to never set foot inside Beto's Mexican Restaurant again so long as I live. And I hope tomorrow is not Sunday, although I'm pretty sure it is.

Fast Sunday.
